First Nation Holiday Gift Guide
With the holiday season starting soon we wanted to share some of items that are on our wish list:
Cheekbone Beauty has appeared on our blog before and remains a must-have in our makeup bags. Feel good about your purchase knowing that 10% of the profits are donated to Shannen’s Dream at the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society in Ottawa. We recommend starting with the Cheekbone Beauty Starter Kit that includes an Earth Contour Palette, Brow Gel, and Sweetgrass Lip Gloss.
Another alumni to our blog, Quw’utsun’ Made was founded by Arianna Johnny-Wadsworth (Cowichan) and operates on the traditional territory of the Navajo and Pueblo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their Devil’s Club Lotion (also great for tattoo aftercare) remains on the top of our wish list. Even better, Quw’utsun’Made is available in a variety of locations in BC, Washington, California
Native Northwest Canada has been a go-to company for decades because of their high quality products and their commitment to properly acknowledging and compensating Indigenous artists for their work. Our latest obsession is the porcelain bowls, mugs, and art plates in vibrant colours with beautiful artwork on the inside.
Eighth Generation (US Shopping)
Louie Gong has been on our radar for a few years because of his mixed heritage artwork (check out his ‘Guardians‘ design). Founded in 2008, Eighth Generation now operates in Pike Place Market in Seattle. In exciting news, Eighth Generation was recently bought by the Snoqualmie Tribe, read more about it here. Make sure to plan a visit during your next trip to Seattle!
