National Aboriginal History Month: Lower Nicola Indian Band

26

June, 2017

Lower Nicola Indian Band (LNIB) represents the Scw’exmx people, the people of the creeks. Their language and culture are of the Nlaka’pamux Nation, one of the Interior Salish Nations. Their territory expands along the Thompson and Nicola Rivers in the Southern Interior of BC. The Scw’exmx people were migrant people who hunted, fished, traveled and traded throughout their traditional territory.

LNIB is a longtime client of Castlemain, having worked with them extensively on many exciting projects throughout the years of partnership. A memorable project was the engagement on the LNIB Land Code which was facilitated by both our Governance and Strategic Engagement and Communications teams. Castlemain worked collaboratively with LNIB to develop Land Code through various channels of communications. LNIB community members were involved in developing the Land Code from the very start and ultimately decided to implement the code through voting yes during a ratification vote.
