WHAT TO LISTEN TO
N’we Jinan is a music project that has toured across Canada to help Indigenous youth express themselves through song. They spent some time at the Penticton Indian Band and have just released their music video “Come & Listen”. This powerful song carries a moving and message led by the youth of Outma qilx w Cultural School.
The Castlemain team rounds up the new, Indigenous, cultural things they’re into this week — from new books to movies, to speaker series, to music and podcasts!
WHERE TO GO
DJ O Show has made a huge name for herself in Vancouver, and this Sunday Nov. 12th she will be celebrating with a 5 year anniversary party at the Portside Pub. Hosted by Suzette Amaya, host of ThinkNDN on 100.5fm, the party will feature guests DJ Izzy, DJ Day Day, DJ Groove Heart, DJ Dbl-G, and of course DJ O Show.

WHAT TO SEE
From the North will be in Vancouver on Nov. 10th and 11th and will be showcasing artists from all three territories. The gala weaves together stories, music, and dance from artists such as: IVA, Riit, Quantum Tangle, NAHGA, Sophie Villeneuve, Borealis Soul, and the Dakhka Khwaan Dancers and DASH. This unique event will feature throat singing, electronica-infused traditional drumming, dancing, singing, and storytelling in French, English, and Inuktitut.
