
Tahltan leadership and citizens understood that the NTL had the potential to change their lives, bringing industrial grade power to one of British Columbia’s most pristine untouched areas.
At the same time, very few Impact & Benefit Agreements (IBAs) had been negotiated on transmission lines and the market was not very well understood. With a number of First Nations and stakeholders involved, reaching an agreement would require the expertise of a wide variety of skilled professionals and close work with the Tahltan community to ensure that any agreement fully met the Tahltan peoples’ interests.
