UNYA FUNDRAISER – ROOT DWELLERS PRESENTS: MZSHELLZ, CAITLIN GOULET, DAKOTA BEAR
Root Dwellers is fundraising for the Urban Native Youth Association with partial proceeds going towards their new Indigenous hub The Native Youth Centre to be built at Commercial Drive & East Hastings. Come out to support a good cause and be treated to music from emerging Cree Hip Hop artist MZSHELLZ, soulful pop from Caitlin Goulet, and Indigenous hip-hop artist and activist Dakota Bear.

HONOURING THE LIVES OF INDIGENOUS WOMEN
The Carnegie Branch of the Vancouver Public Library holds a monthly film screening, this month’s screening will be “Honouring the Lives of Indigenous Women” featuring 2 documentaries: The Spirit of Annie Mae and Mohawk Girls. Just 10 days after the 29th annual Feb 14 Women’s Memorial March in the Downtown Eastside, the combination of these two films will look at the life and brutal murder of Annie Mae and how that sparked the American Indian Movement followed by a look into the modern Indigenous youth culture.

FEBRUARY 29
BEADING & TUFTING WORKSHOP WITH MICHELLE SOUND
Tufting is a traditional art developed by Metis women artists Katherine Bouvier and Madelein Lafferty in the early 1900s, on Feb. 29th Michelle Sound will be leading a workshop to learn traditional and contemporary beading and caribou-hair tufting at the Richmond Art Gallery. This art requires great patience and a steady hand, registration will include all materials.
